Fr. George Paruvanany (March 8, 1928 – January 12, 1986) was a Catholic Parish priest, Community Leader, and Social Worker from Karinilam, Mundakkayam, Kottayam District, Kerala. He has been recognised for his contributions to Christian Community Development as well as his leadership abilities. He was called ‘Valiachan’ in family circles and in the region.
Life & Career:
Fr. George Paruvanany was ordained a Catholic
priest on March 16, 1956, in the VC (Vincentian Congregation) Family of the
Kanjirapally Diocese.
He began her career at St. Mary's Church
Thekkemala as an Assistant Vicar & Community Leader. He served in a number
of parish churches in the Syro Malabar Church, including St. George Church
Mukkulam, St. George Church Marykulam, St. George Forane Church Kattappana, St.
Joseph's Church Kunnumbhagam, St. Mary's Church Eravuchira, St. George Church
Thottackad, St. John Baptist Church Kottangal, Manimala, and others.
He was an active participant in several church
community development programmes. His leadership abilities and expertise aided
the Syro Malabar church in expanding its presence in the Malankara Nasrani
community.
